World-Building Awaits

Select a category on the left to view its entries, or click "Add New Item" to start creating. For instructions, click the "Help" button.

When you're ready, click "Download Campaign JSON" to get the file for your Campaign Codex.

How It Works

1. Basic Editing

Use the Categories buttons to choose what you want to edit (e.g., Locations, NPCs).
The list below shows all entries for the selected category.
Click 'Add New Item' to create a new entry in the current category.
Click on an existing item in the list to open its editor form on the right.
Make your changes in the form and click 'Save Changes'. Deleting is permanent!

2. Creating Links (Important!)

This editor does not have a special 'link' button. Links are created automatically by the Campaign Codex viewer app.

To link from one entry to another, simply type the exact name of the target entry into any description field.

Example: You have an NPC named 'Mirt the Moneylender'. In the description for the 'Waterdeep' location, you can write a sentence like:

"...It is home to many influential figures, including the secretive Mirt the Moneylender."

When you load your JSON into the Campaign Codex, the name "Mirt the Moneylender" will automatically become a clickable link to his NPC entry.

3. Exporting Your World

Once you are happy with your campaign, click the 'Download Campaign JSON' button.
This saves a campaign-data.json file to your computer.
Open the Campaign Codex app and use its 'Load Campaign Data' button to upload this file and explore your hyperlinked world!
